Howto: Enable RubyonRails on Linux desktop

Installing Ruby, Rails and IDE make it with few simple steps try it.

installation

1. wget ftp://ftp.ruby-lang.org/pub/ruby/1.8/ruby-1.8.7-p174.tar.gz
2. tar -zxvf ruby-1.8.7-p174.tar.gz
3. cd ruby-1.8.7-p174/
4. ./configure –prefix=/usr/local –enable-pthread –with-readline-dir=/usr/local
5. make && make install
6. wget http://production.cf.rubygems.org/rubygems/rubygems-1.4.1.tgz
7. tar -zxvf rubygems-1.4.1.tgz
8. cd rubygems-1.4.1/
9. ruby setup.rb — > output (RubyGems installed the following executables:
/usr/local/bin/gem )
10.gem update –system
or
gem install rubygems-update
11.gem install rails –include-dependencies
12. rails -v && ruby -v && gem list
13. download AptanaStudio from http://download.aptana.org/tools/studio/standalone/linux/Aptana_Studio_Setup_Linux_x86_2.0.5.zip
