There is two options in gmail, I think you are comfortable with the second option.
1. You can add an thirdparty pop3 account in gmail, for that you need to buy a premium e-mail service offered by Rediffmail Rs. 399.
2. Gmail also provide settings to configure an email address that you own, This is the option to sending redffmail (any emails ) emails using gmail smtp accont or you can also configure your own smtp details in this setttings.
